NECTC Athlete Development Camp 2011
Welcome to the NECTC page for the 2nd Annual Athlete Development Camp!
Thanks to all the 2010 camp organizers and camp participants, who made the camp a huge success! Check out the camp report for more information.
2011 Development Camp date: JUNE 29TH - JULY 3RD.

Introduction
The NECTC Athlete Development Camp (ADC) is designed to bring collegiate athletes
together for an intensive weekend of training focused on increasing the strength of competition
among the top athletes in the NECTC. Here, athletes will come together and push
each other to the limit outside the context of the race environment. Throughout
the weekend athletes will be exposed to different training styles, techniques
and seminars and will receive individualized feedback from each of the certified coaches.
Note that the camp is limited to 20 athletes.
All 2010 athletes who won gift certificates to the 2011 camp are automatically accepted and do not have to fill out an application form but must follow these instructions
All other applicants will be selected based on their past race results, the strength of their application
and the recommendation of their coach or captain.

Who is Eligible
All athletes who are ages 18-28 are eligible if they competed in at least one USAT sanctioned triathlon in 2010 or 2011.
The camp participants will be selected based on the strength of their application.

How to Apply
General Applicants

Written Application
- Download the Camp Application and fill it out.
- Make sure none of the information is inaccurate or missing!
(Inaccurate or incomplete applications will not be considered.)
- Save your application as a PDF entitled LastName_FirstName_2011App.
- Email your application to NECTC Board.

Letter of Recommendation
All athletes are required to have their coach or captain submit a letter of recommendation on their behalf. The coach or captain must submit their letter
directly to NECTC Board - both by email and by regular mail. The copy sent by mail should be signed by the author of the
recommendation. The athlete’s entire application is not considered complete until the letter of recommendation is received.

Payment
If accepted, the athlete has until May 31st at 12pm to secure his or her spot
at the camp by submitting the camp registration fee of $400 or $550 (see next section).
If there are special circumstances regarding the payment, please contact Rori Alter.
If the athlete does not submit the camp registration fee by the deadline above, the athlete will have forfeited his or her spot
at the camp and it will be given to the next eligible athlete.

- Download the Certificate Winner Waiver and fill it out.
- Make sure none of the information is inaccurate or missing!

- Save your waiver as a PDF entitled LastName_FirstName_2011Waiver.
- Email your waiver to NECTC Board no later than March 20th, 2011.

Payment
The athlete has until March 20th, at 12pm to secure his or her spot at the camp by submitting the camp registration fee IN FULL that is dependent on the certificate won in 2010 (see Certificate Winner Waiver for cost information).
Athletes who won a free entry to the camp are being asked to submit a $100 payment that will be returned at the completion of the camp but will have the option of donating this $100 at the end of the camp.
All Certificate winners will have the option to donate $25 or $50 on their waiver form.
If there are special circumstances regarding the payment, please contact Rori Alter. If the athlete does not submit the camp registration fee by the deadline above, the athlete will have forfeited his or her spot at the camp and it will be given to the next eligible athlete.

What will it cost?
NECTC athletes*: $400
Non-NECTC athletes**: $550
* NECTC athletes are student members of NECTC and USAT registered Collegiate Clubs, eligible for NECTC races in Fall 2011 and Collegiate Nationals 2012.
** Non-NECTC athletes are all other eligible athletes.
This will pay for:
- Coaching
- Facilities
- 4 nights of hotel accommodation
- All meals listed on the schedule
- Permits and USA Triathlon sanctioning
But it will NOT pay for the travel to, from or during the camp.
However, once athletes are accepted and pay the registration fee, the NECTC will work with the athletes to put together
carpools for all travel associated with the camp. As a result, some athletes
will be expected to drive between locations of several camp events while sharing
the gas expenses between the passangers in each car.

Our AMAZING Coaching Team
Bill Steele is a USA Triathlon
Level II Certified Coach. He is the founder of Breakwater Sports Training
and the swimming coach for the MIT Triathlon Team. He has been coaching swimmers
and triathletes for over 20 years, competes as an open water swimmer and triathlete,
and is an age group winner at Alcatraz (swim only).
Bill will be leading all swim sessions during the camp. He will conduct multiple-angle video
analysis on each athlete's freestyle stroke, will assess how well their swimming would work
for longer distances in open water and will provide each athlete with advice about how to improve
their open water distance swimming. Password-protected video analyses will also be made available
on his website, so that the athletes and their coaches can review these after the camp is over.
In addition, Bill will conduct an open water session covering skills such as ins and outs,
sighting, drafting, turns, and strategizing. He will use GPS tracking to demonstrate
the athletes' ability to stay on target and will film athletes' sighting technique,
which will also be appear on the password-protected section of his website.

Chris Ganter is an endurance sports coach and professional triathlete based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition to his scientific background as a former Senior Scientist of Analytical Chemistry, Chris brings 16 years of competitive running experience at the amateur, NCAA and post-collegiate levels. He also brings 7 years of highly successful multisport experience including wins at Nautica NYC Triathlon, The Philadelphia Insurance Triathlon. Chris earned the title of 2008 USAT short course duathlon national champion, and Garmin USAT duathlete of the year 2008.
As a USAT Level I Certified Triathlon Coach and head coach of Drexel University’s collegiate triathlon team, Chris has expanded the Drexel team to 32 athletes and successfully fielded full men’s and women’s squads at USAT Collegiate Nationals. In addition to coaching new multisport athletes to successful finishes, he has also developed elite level athletes, achieving top overall race performances, top age-group placing and two overall individual race wins in the Northeast Collegiate Triathlon Conference. He is also the coach of the NECTC overall male points champion, Kevin Trainer.
Chris applies his coaching and racing experience in endurance sports to help athletes to meet their goals in a healthy, sustainable and enjoyable manner. The core tenant of Chris’s coaching philosophy is sustainable athletic development and performance, attained through consistent application of the most effective science-base techniques. Each stimulus applied is dictated by the unique needs of the athlete. Chris brings a scientific curiosity, as well as a diverse perspective, having the experience of coaching individual endurance athletes from the beginner to the elite level at virtually every standard multisport race distance.

John Petrizzo, CSCS, received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Hofstra University in 2006 where he was a member of the football team. John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Since his graduation from Hofstra John has worked with a wide variety of athletes in many different sports. John has overseen the strength and conditioning program at Macarthur High School in Levittown since 2006. He also has worked as a strength and conditioning consultant for the Long Island Athletics baseball team. John has helped athletes all over Long Island from pre-teens through the collegiate ranks improve their strength, power, agility, and speed. Currently John is pursuing his Doctorate in Physical Therapy (DPT) from New York Institute of Technology.
